All D206 students will be supported in their learning by being provided a Chromebook to use at school and at home. In addition, they are provided with access to District-approved digital educational resources. There is no fee to receive a device, but students are responsible for proper care and maintenance. To be eligible to receive a Chromebook, the student’s parent/guardian must review and sign the “District 206 Chromebook Agreement” and “Parental Consent for Student Google Workspace for Education Account” when registering for school. By signing this document, families agree to the guidelines set forth in the agreement. Students using District technology and networks are also subject to the rules and policies outlined in the Student Handbook and the District’s Acceptable Use Policy. Student responsibilities are listed below:
STUDENT CHROMEBOOK USE
To support their learning, all District 206 students receive a Chromebook for use at school and home. Students also have access to approved digital educational resources and may use designated classroom or computer lab devices with permission. These policies apply to student use of all District 206 technology and accounts, both on and off campus. All devices and resources must be used strictly for educational purposes, and students must access them only via their individual, district-assigned accounts. Modifying computer hardware, settings, or software, including installing or removing applications, is strictly prohibited.

STUDENT CHROMEBOOK RESPONSIBILITIES
Students MUST bring their fully charged Chromebook to school every school day, keep their Chromebook in good working order, and report all damage, loss, or theft to the school Chromebook Service Center as soon as possible. Chromebook agreements, student help and repair & maintenance information may also be found on the District Technology website: https://sd206.org/district-technology/
Chromebook Service Center:
The Chromebook Service Center is located in room 159 at Bloom High School and Room 2.201 at Bloom Trail High School. The Chromebook Service Center is open on school days from 7:45 AM until 2:45 PM. Students should visit the Chromebook Service Center if they have a problem with their District-issued Chromebook or need to report damage, loss, or theft of their Chromebook. Students may visit the service center before school without a pass. During the school day, a pass is required to visit the Chromebook Service Center during periods 1-9, no exceptions. Technicians are available to troubleshoot Chromebooks and facilitate repairs. Repair estimates are always free, and many issues may be resolved at no cost. If a repair will take more than a day, a long-term loaner Chromebook will be assigned to the student for home and school use for the duration of the repair. Students are responsible for caring for loaner Chromebooks including repair or replacement costs if lost or damaged. Daily loaners are not available from the service center.
Maintenance, Help and Repairs
Students are expected to maintain and care for their Chromebook to keep it in good working order at all times. If a student encounters an issue with their Chromebook, they should visit the Chromebook service center for help. Assessments are always free and many issues may be resolved at no cost depending on the nature of the issue. The District will determine if charges will be assessed based on the categories of below:
Any assessed repair and replacement costs will result in charges to the student’s account. The charges are as follows:
Daily Chromebook Loaner Stations:
As a courtesy, if a student forgets their device, they can check out a daily loaner at the Daily Chromebook Loaner Stations. Daily loaner Chromebooks are available from 7:45 – 8:15 AM at the Ticket Booth located in the Auditorium Foyer at Bloom High School or in the Senior Commons at Bloom Trail High School. Daily loaner Chromebooks must be checked out before school starts and returned before 3 PM the same day. A student ID is required to check out a Chromebook. Only one loaner Chromebook may be checked out by a student at a time. Students are responsible for caring for loaner Chromebooks including repair or replacement costs if lost or damaged. Chromebooks must be returned to the Ticket Booth OR outside the Counseling Office room 134 at Bloom High School or the Senior Commons at Bloom Trail High School between 2:45 PM and 3:00 PM. Daily loaner Chromebooks must be returned by 3:00 PM on the day they are checked out and may NOT be taken home. Chromebooks not returned by 3 PM will be disabled and count as 2 checkout days toward the 5 per-semester loaner limit. If this behavior becomes repetitive, students will report to their Dean for additional support and/or consequences. Students may be denied a daily loaner Chromebook if they exceed the per-semester limit, already have a loaner checked out, or do not promptly return loaners.
Students may NOT bring personal computers to school. Students are required to use district issued Chromebooks. District 206 is not responsible for personal devices that students bring to school. District 206 staff cannot provide technical support, install software, or connect personal devices to the school Wi-Fi.
