Parent University is a free one-day conference parents of Bloom and Bloom Trail High School students held in the Conference Center at Prairie State College.
Parents of high school students hear lectures from several education and parenting experts in a workshop environment. Past conferences have covered a multitude of topics, including Cyber-Bullying, Teen Suicide Prevention, Human Trafficking, DACA and Toxic Relationships with some sessions devoted exclusively to Spanish-speaking parents.
Outside the lecture hall and classrooms, south suburban librarians from Chicago Heights, Steger-South Chicago Heights and Glenwood-Lynwood public libraries man informational booths. Parents are also able to speak with representatives from several area nonprofit organizations.
