Emergency Closing Procedures

Bloom Township District 206 Community,

The district previously sent a version of this message that contained incorrect information. Please disregard the prior communication that was sent. We have provided updated communication regarding Emergency Closing procedures in the event of inclement weather or an emergency that would dictate the need to close the campus. We are hopeful that we will not encounter further inclement weather this season. However, it is important that you be informed just in case.

Emergency Closing Procedures Remote Status

Bloom Township District 206 would like to keep parents informed in case we encounter inclement weather or another reason to close the campuses.  In the event of an Emergency Closing, the district will run a remote schedule for the day of the closure. Students already work asynchronously from home on Wednesday. Thus, this would only pertain to a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday.

Faculty and Staff

If the district enacts an Emergency Closing, all staff will work remotely. The exceptions are maintenance staff and cafeteria workers due to the nature of their respective work.

Communication

Communication regarding school closures due to an emergency or inclement weather can be accessed in many ways.  We will make information available on our website at www.sd206.org.  Information will also be noted publicly at https://www.emergencyclosingcenter.com/, WBBM AM 780, WGN AM 720, and on the major television networks. Additionally, the district will send an “all call” phone message, text, and email to announce the school closing.  We will make every effort to announce a school closure the night before. However, if this is not possible, it will be announced by 6:45 a.m. on the day of the closing.

School Activities

Decisions regarding the cancellation of school-related events such as athletics and co-curricular activities will be determined by the administration and communicated accordingly.

Respectfully,

Lenell Navarre, Ed.D.
