Bloom 206 NJROTC in service and community

Bloom Township High School NJROTC spent the week of Veterans Day honoring servicemen and women in the south Suburbs.  

Cadets participated in ceremonies with Glenwood AMVETS Post 268 who also treated the Cadets to an Appreciation Pizza Party which they have hosted for several years. Cadets performed Color Guard and POW/MIA Ceremonies at Prairie State College, Chicago Heights Park District, and churches in Markham and Matteson. Bloom NJROTC also donated snacks to make ‘Goody Bags’ which were donated to members of Veteran Organizations throughout the South Suburbs, including (Veteran) residents at the Glenwood Health and Rehabilitation Center.  
In the weeks leading up to Veterans Day events, NJROTC Cadets donated 217 bags of candy for the Operation Gratitude Care Packages Project for deployed military personnel and First Responders.  They held a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation; participated in a Memory Walk for Alzheimer’s Awareness and a virtual 5K for coronavirus awareness.  

The NJROTC Area 3 Region is under the leadership of CDR Joseph Hankins, US Navy (Retired).  LT Stacy Henderson-Shaw (SNSI) and Master Chief Will Goggins (NSI) are the NJROTC Instructors at Bloom.
